C-PIC Participation Fund

At C-PIC, we are committed to making our events accessible and inclusive to all. We recognise that sometimes, participating in an event can involve additional costs that can be a barrier to inclusion, especially for people with disabilities and caring responsibilities.

Events can include virtual or in-person activities, for example, conferences, workshops, training courses, or meetings.

The C-PIC Participation Fund aims to provide support towards the additional costs of participating in a C-PIC run event, where they cannot be covered by your employer:

1. Travel and accommodation costs
2. Caring costs
3. Accessibility costs

1. Travel and accommodation costs

For example:

• Support towards adjustments for those with accessibility needs, for example additional travel expenses and overnight accommodation for an assistant
• Support towards additional travel expenses and overnight accommodation for example, for child(ren) and a carer if necessary

2. Caring costs

For example:

• Support towards additional care at home for example, childcare, or to support care of elderly or disabled adult relatives, where this is outside of your normal routine. Additional care requirements could occur if you are required to:
• participate in events on what would normally be a non-working day
• work extended hours on a normal working day
• attend meetings with overnight stays
• travel to a venue away from your typical workplace

3. Accessibility costs

For example

• Support towards additional communication requirements such as a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter

Our expectation is that your employer is approached in the first instance to meet these costs.
