Live MPW Calls
220nm SOI Passive MPW #9 for Academia
CORNERSTONE users who are undergraduate (BSc and MSc) and 1st year postgraduate (PhD) students are invited to submit designs to the 220 nm SOI Passive MPW #9. The sign-up deadline is Wednesday 14th October 2026. The design submission deadline is Wednesday 11th November 2026. Please be aware that all deadlines end at 13:00 PM UK time.
Access to fabrication batch is exclusively limited to undergraduate (BSc and MSc) and 1st year postgraduate (PhD) students. Students are advised that they will be provided with a 25 x 33 mm² chip, which will include their individual designs, the contributions of other project partners, and a schematic to clearly identify the location of their specific design.

New for MPW #50:
Graphene Integration
This MPW run will also introduce a new Graphene Integration Beta Service, delivered in partnership with the Cambridge Graphene Centre at the University of Cambridge. The service provides early access to graphene-enabled photonic device fabrication within the CORNERSTONE process flow, allowing users to evaluate and prototype next-generation graphene-integrated PICs.
As part of the beta launch, the service will be offered at a significantly reduced introductory rate for this MPW run. Please download the Design Rules for further technical details, design guidance and pricing information.

SEM Analysis
High-resolution surface imaging to verify critical dimension specifications.
FIB Analysis
Focused Ion Beam inspection/cross-section analysis for 2 points.

Optical characterisation at wafer level, helping you assess device performance before dicing.
Laser and Photodiode Integration
A special discounted rate will be available for the first five users who opt in for the laser integration service. This will be offered on a first come first served basis.

All UK universities are eligible for a 50% discount, while UK SMEs may be eligible if they are engaging with CORNERSTONE for the first time.
This discount applies to the cost of this MPW run with support from the CORNERSTONE Photonics Innovation Centre (C-PIC) (EP/Z531066/1), funded by UK Research and Innovation. Support will be provided under the Subsidy Control Act (2022) via Minimal Financial Assistance. To be eligible you will need to demonstrate the potential impact of receiving assistance against one or more of the following categories: impact on jobs and skills, access to new technology, accelerating product development. Following submission of your sign-up form, you will receive correspondence with more details of how this support will be provided. For UK companies, the support is only available for first time MPW users with a UK design/development/manufacturing presence and only for prototyping and product development.
To receive Design Rule Check (DRC) feedback from the CORNERSTONE team, users must submit their designs no later than the design submission deadline. Submissions received after the design submission deadline will not be checked against design rules; therefore, any fabrication failures related to design rule violations will be at the users’ own risk. The CORNERSTONE team would be grateful for the opportunity to work with you prior to the submission deadline to ensure your designs pass DRC.
